Climbers, beginners, locals, night owls. Vertige.Block is what happens when an old textile factory meets a neighborhood that loves to move. Drop in, chalk up, find your tribe.
When we took over the old Lavoisier textile factory in 2021, we promised ourselves one thing: keep it open. Open to first-timers who've never touched a hold. Open to project warriors chasing their first 7a. Open to the kids from the block who just want a warm place after school.
Three years later, the chalk has soaked into the concrete and the community has grown into something we couldn't have planned. From the Tuesday Ladies Night to the Sunday Coffee Sends, the crew makes this place what it is.
From age 6 to 72, climbing weekly.
New climbers paired with regulars.
Local roasted coffee, all day.
Free climbing Wednesdays for kids.
Comps, meetups, workshops, and just-because parties. Free for members, open to all unless noted.
Women & non-binary climbers take over the gym. Fresh sets by Léa, free chalk refills, and apéro after at the café corner. All levels welcome.
Our quarterly in-house competition. 40 problems, 4 hours, three categories. Open to all members. Prizes from Scarpa, Tendon and our local bakery Le Pain Quotidien.
Three hours of body movement, falling technique, and reading routes — taught by Mehdi, our head coach. Perfect for your second or third week of climbing.
Projection on the back wall, popcorn from the café, bring a cushion. Featuring the latest big-wall and bouldering films. Doors at 20:00.
Our chillest tradition. Brew bar by Café Pollen, fresh problems, no music too loud. Just send. Or don't. The croissants are great either way.
Annual pilgrimage to Bas Cuvier. Mini-bus from the gym at 06:30, back by 22:00. Lunch, crash pads and stoke included. 14 seats, members only.
Setters, coaches, baristas, and the volunteers who keep the place running. They're who you ask when something feels stuck.
Real words from real members. No filters, no edits.
I walked in two years ago not knowing anyone in Lille. Now I have a Tuesday night family. The gym is raw, the people are real, and the routes never get boring.
My kids climb here every Wednesday for free. As a single dad from the quartier, this place changed our routine. Amina is patient gold. Thank you for keeping the doors open.
Best setting in the north of France, full stop. Léa's routes make you think with your feet. And the old factory beams? Best acoustics for a send scream you'll ever find.
I started at 54, terrified of falling. The buddy program paired me with Sophie. Eight months later I climbed my first 5c and cried on the mat. Nobody laughed. They cheered.
The Bleau trip last spring was unreal. Mehdi packed pastries for everyone at 6am. We sent, we failed, we ate sandwiches in the forest. That's Vertige in one day.
I run a coworking space two streets down. We host our Friday team sessions here. The staff turns the bouldering room into a stage. Best team-building in Lille, no debate.
Sessions, events, sweat, sends. Tag #vertigeblock on Instagram — your shot might end up on the wall.
First session free for Wazemmes residents. Show up, lace your shoes, find your people. We'll save you a spot at the café after.
